Rockets Rally Past Clippers as Durant Outduels Leonard; Knicks Heavy Favorites Over Pacers

The NBA delivered two major storylines Tuesday night, highlighted by the Houston Rockets’ comeback victory over the Los Angeles Clippers and a highly anticipated Eastern Conference matchup between the New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers.

Rockets Surge Late to Defeat Clippers

The Houston Rockets secured a strong 102-95 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers, fueled by a dominant fourth-quarter performance and star leadership from Kevin Durant.

Durant finished with 26 points, leading Houston’s offensive charge, while Alperen Sengun added 22 points, seven rebounds, and five assists in a balanced team effort. The Rockets also received crucial contributions from Amen Thompson and Reed Sheppard, who each scored 16 points, helping Houston pull away late in the game.

Houston seized control in the final quarter, beginning with a scoring surge that created a double-digit lead. The Rockets’ perimeter shooting proved decisive, as the team knocked down 50% of its three-point attempts and maintained composure despite committing 18 turnovers.

For the Clippers, Kawhi Leonard continued his consistent scoring streak, finishing with 24 points and eight rebounds, marking his 32nd consecutive game with at least 20 points. However, Los Angeles struggled offensively down the stretch, failing to record a field goal until midway through the fourth quarter. John Collins contributed 17 points, but the Clippers lacked additional scoring depth in the loss.

The win extended Houston’s strong recent form, with the team winning seven of its last 10 games and maintaining a strong home-court presence.

Durant vs. Leonard Headlines Star Showdown

The matchup drew major attention as two of the NBA’s premier forwards — Kevin Durant and Kawhi Leonard — faced off in a marquee Western Conference battle. Durant’s scoring efficiency and Houston’s team defense ultimately gave the Rockets the advantage over a Clippers squad still adjusting roster changes and lineup depth.

Knicks Enter Pacers Clash as Heavy Favorites

Meanwhile, in the Eastern Conference, the New York Knicks entered their matchup against the Indiana Pacers riding significant momentum. New York sits near the top of the conference standings with a strong 35-19 record, having won nine of its last 10 games.

The Pacers, on the other hand, have struggled this season, holding a 13-40 record and entering the game on a four-game losing streak. Analysts view the contest as a clash between two teams trending in opposite directions.

Oddsmakers listed the Knicks as heavy favorites, with New York projected to win by approximately 11 to 12 points. Betting models also predicted a high-scoring contest, projecting around 229 combined points between the two teams.

Statistical projections suggest Knicks guard Jalen Brunson could lead New York offensively with roughly 26 to 27 points, while Pascal Siakam is expected to pace the Pacers with just over 21 points.

Momentum Favors New York

The Knicks’ recent surge has been fueled by offensive consistency and strong home performances at Madison Square Garden. Indiana, meanwhile, continues to battle defensive lapses and roster instability, factors that have contributed to its struggles throughout the season.

Looking Ahead

Houston’s victory strengthens its playoff positioning in the Western Conference and reinforces its reputation as a dangerous opponent when its offense and defense click simultaneously. The Clippers will look to regroup quickly as they continue their postseason push.

In the East, all eyes remain on whether the Knicks can maintain their hot streak and solidify their contender status, while the Pacers aim to halt their slide and rebuild momentum as the season progresses.
